About us
Who we are
We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them.
The Leratong Place of Love Crisis Centre, also known as House of Hope, is a sanctuary for women and children who are victims of domestic, physical, and emotional abuse in Springs, South Africa. Operated under the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and a division of Springscare, the centre offers safe shelter and comprehensive support services to help survivors rebuild their lives
Leratong provides crisis intervention counseling by trained social workers, who also assist families with court preparation. The centre emphasizes empowering women through various skill development programs, including sewing, computer literacy, knitting, beadwork, and mosaic. These programs are designed to equip the residents with the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and to enhance their self-esteem and assertiveness.
The centre can accommodate up to 20 women for a rehabilitation period of six months, offering facilities for children as well. The operations rely heavily on the dedication of volunteers and donations from individuals and corporate entities. Despite receiving some government funding and grants, Leratong continually seeks community support to maintain and expand its services.
